Every friday for the past few months I have been wearing red as a sign of my support for the British troops. I do so in response to this initiative "Red Fridays" Every week I get an E-mail that helps to remind me of my intention but I don't really need the reminder now, it has become habit. The E-mails also provide lots of interesting links which today lead me to this article which I thought I was worth sharing on here. Not everyone receives an award for the selfless acts that they perform whilst in the course of their work, but reading about those who do helps to remind us of the demands that they face on a daily basis.

Hi Kelly, it is. I think it helps raise awareness of how important the armed forces are and the role of each individual is vital to all.

That's a very good way of celebrating all the good done by the Armed Forces, people like us all with families, husbands and wives which they gave up for us! My dad was a returned serviceman and it wasn't until his latter years that he began to speak about how he became one, and how it was for him and the men and women he was with leaving NZ shores and suddenly realising what they had done in signing up. We were fortunate that he returned, however the heartache it must have caused women like my mum with little children being left alone took a great toll on them all and changed their lives forever.

whenever i read about the things our troops to i feel so emotional i usually end up crying. not only do they sign up to protect all of us but go above & beyond in the line of duty to help their colleagues. I grew up in a military environment & it was one of the best - its such a close community.
those who say only bad things about our troops need to realise that they only have the right to freedom of speech because they fight to protect our rights and our safety.
Im 23, 100% behind our troops and always will be. I just wish more people were.
